How ESN member led police, army to group’s hideout in Imo

An operative of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Osinachi Stanley, led a joint team of police and military personnel to one of the outfit’s hideouts at Amii-Akabo, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, it has emerged.

A police source that disclosed this on Tuesday also confirmed that the security agents destroyed the hideout, where a female police inspector was being held.

The captive female cop was freed, the source said.

The security agents were said to have destroyed arrested some suspects at the hideout.

The destruction of the hideout occurred days after the killing of a top ESN commander identified as King of Dragons.

Also, no fewer than 10 houses in the vicinity of the hideout were reported destroyed.

“The one arrested alive led security operatives to our village where a police inspector who was kidnapped by the gang was rescued alive. No fewer than 10 houses were destroyed by the security operatives in our village. As I speak to you now, our kinsmen are on the run,” The Punch quoted an unnamed resident as saying.

The Police Public Relations Officer (IPOB) of the state command, Bala Elkana confirmed the rescue of the female cop and destruction of the hideout.

Elkana disclosed that the security agents recovered rifles stolen by the hoodlums from the police stations they attacked in the state.
