How police, hunters rescued female UNIJOS prof, husband

The Plateau State Police Command says it has secured the release of Professor Grace Ayanbimpe of the University of Jos and her husband, Isaac Ayanbimpe, that were kidnapped early Monday.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, ASP Ubah Ogaba confirmed the release on Tuesday.

The police spokesman said that Prof Ayanbimpe, who is of the Department of Medical Microbiology, and her husband were rescued by a joint team comprising security agents and hunters.

“With the concerted effort of the Police Tactical team Plateau State Command, hunters and vigilantes, the kidnapped victims – Prof Grace Ayanbimpe and her husband Mr Isaac Ayanbimpe – were released unhurt,” Ogaba said.

Meanwhile, the abductors had demanded N15 million ransom to release the suspect.

It was not immediately clear if ransom was paid.
