Hungary Restricts Movement to Curb the Epidemic

Hungary on Friday said it would impose a wide-range restriction on movement in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.

Orban told State Radio that the restriction would take effect from Saturday and that Hungarians would be allowed to leave their homes only to go to work, shop for food, medication or other essential activities.

According to a decree published in the official gazette, while in the public domain, people must respect social distancing.

The restrictions are initially for people to stay in their homes or a particular place for a period of two weeks, until April 11.

As of Friday, there were 300 confirmed cases of infection in Hungary, with 10 deaths.
