The Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin has refuted reports saying he was lobbying to be the next president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, declaring that he has no intention of contesting for the office.

Adefarasin who spoke on Sunday during a church service, said reports linking him to the PFN presidency as “mere rumours masterminded by malicious people”, as he said that the task of being the pastor of House on the Rock, a church he founded, was already an “enormous task”.

“It is obvious that some people are planning to send out wrong messages with the aim of dividing the body of Christ. Let me say that I have never struggled to take up such position. I am not interested in it and I do not need it,” he said.

The PFN is currently headed by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor who is also the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria. Pastor Oritsejafor has indicated that he would step down in 2013 to focus on running CAN.

Meanwhile, in his Christmas message, Adefarasin described the birth of Christ as a special gift to the world.

He said people could not enjoy God’s gifts due to fear and unbelief, and encouraged Nigerians to look beyond their hardships and struggles as God’s gifts come in unattractive packages.
