Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that he didn’t even think to pick Pogba  in the showdown between his charges and Liverpool.

The Red Devils went down 3-1 to their bitter rivals.

Two goals from Xherdan Shaqiri and another from Sadio Mane was enough to catapult Liverpool back to the top of the table

Speaking to the press after the game, Mourinho was asked about Pogba’s exclusion and he was terse in his explanation.

“No.” Mourinho said when asked if he considered picking Pogba for the first team

“Because I am happy with [Nemanja] Matic, Lingard and [Ander] Herrera.” said the manager explaining further

The Portuguese manager was also happy with his striker Lukaku even though the Belgian was unable to score.

“He gave more problems today than last season when he came for the 0-0 draw. He was lively, he had movement and good interaction.

“Sometimes his first touch is not the best and he loses lots of balls, but today that didn’t happen.

“He had some good links and fought hard. He’s improving, he played positively in the last game against Fulham and today was a very difficult match to play. I think he was positive.”

Gary Neville also had some pretty nasty words for the Manchester United team in the post-match analysis, tearing into them and comparing them to Spaghetti.

“You asked me earlier in the game how United are playing; you can sort of see five at the back but they are all over the place, they are like spaghetti bolognese when you’re watching them.

“Even on this free-kick (that followed) the line isn’t straight! I just look at them and just can’t tell who is leading that line.”
