The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has debunked reports that he intervened in the disagreement between Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Adeboye said he has never been involved in any intra/inter party matters in Nigeria and would never be.

Recall that The Herald, quoting New Telegraph, had reported the purported conversation between Pastor Adeboye and Tinubu.

In the report, Tinubu was quoted to have told Adeboye via a telephone conversation that his hands were “tied” over Ambode’s matter and insisted that all aspirants under the APC platform in Lagos, including the incumbent governor, must go through direct primaries.

In the conversation that was said to have been converted to text, Tinubu was further quoted as saying that he had been accused of imposition in the past and would not want to be seen as imposing anyone this time around.

But Adeboye denied that any such conversation took place.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle, the respected cleric said, “Our attention has been drawn to news making the rounds from dailies especially the New Telegraph that Pastor E. A. Adeboye , the General Overseer of the RCCG , had a recent phone conversation with the leader of the All Progressives Congress.

“We would like to inform the general public that this is false and Pastor E. A. Adeboye has not and would not be involved in inter / intraparty politics in Nigeria and anywhere RCCG is present across the world . Pastor E. A . Adeboye advise all well – meaning Nigerians just like him to get their PVCs and exercise their civic duty. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria . ”

Meanwhile, Tinubu and Ambode met at the launch of Jim Ovia’s 250-page memoir, “Africa Arise and Shine” at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Monday.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was also at the event.

Called to the podium to speak, Ambode said he did not attend the event with a speech and added, “Who am I to speak when the Jagaban (Tinubu) has said it all?”
