A prison inmate at Ekwulobia prisons in Anambra State, Mr Tobias Mbaekwe has pleaded with the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Peter Umeadi not to grant him amnesty.

This happened on Friday when the Chief Judge released him on bail on health grounds, alongside 12 others.

The inmate, a native of Ozubulu in Ekwusigo LGA, who has been in prison since 2012, said it was better for him to stay back in prison because his relations had promised to kill him.

“They said they will kill me if I come back home. They grabbed my father’s land after killing him in 1980. They latter kidnapped me and threatened to kill me and that is why they abandoned me here since 2012,” he said, while rolling on the floor.

However, the judge ordered the prisons welfare officers to take the inmate to the Ozubulu Divisional Police Officer, who would then take him home.

He also ordered that Mbaekwe be visited every three months to determine his condition.
