Ibrahim Chatta Becomes Highest-Paid Nollywood Actor, Charges ₦5 Million Per Movie
Versatile Nigerian actor Ibrahim Chatta is trending online after reports surfaced about his current movie earnings, positioning him as one of the highest-paid actors in Nollywood.
The revelation came from veteran actor Mustapha Bakare Otolo during a recent interview that has since gone viral on social media.
Otolo, while discussing the challenges veteran actors face in producing cinema-standard movies, disclosed that Chatta now charges ₦5 million per film appearance — a sharp contrast to the ₦250,000 to ₦300,000 most older actors receive.
“If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid ₦5 million. That’s the amount he currently charges. He is the highest-paid actor presently,” Otolo said. “He can do up to 20 jobs in a month. I brought him to my movie, Jigi, set in Ogbomoso recently.”
He added that many veteran actors struggle to compete financially with younger or more in-demand stars, making it harder for them to fund and produce cinema projects.
