Nigeria has lost a major icon with the death of Olorogun Michael Ibru, Chief Monday Igbuya, Speaker, Delta House of Assembly, has said.

Igbuya made the statement on Wednesday in Asaba, in his reaction to the death of the Delta-born business mogul.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Micheal Ibru, patriarch of the Ibru family, died on Sept. 6 in Florida, United States after a protracted illness at the age of 86.

The speaker said that the late Ibru was an “international businessman with a good heart not only for his people but also for the entire nation.’’

He described the deceased as a “philanthropist, educator, a lover of children, grassroots organiser and community leader,’’ who gained the respect, trust and love of the entire country through his humility.

While praying for God to grant the family of the late Ibru the fortitude to bear the loss, Igbuya urged Nigerians to emulate him by helping to develop the country notwithstanding the economic situation. (NAN)
