Seun Isaiah, a victim of a Friday attack by Fulani herdsmen on four farmers in Igangan in Ibarapa North LGA of Oyo State, has blamed the police for not stopping the attack.

Isaiah was rumoured to have died in the attack in which the herdsmen inflicted heavy machete cuts on the farmers who were on a motorcycle.

However, he survived the incident with machete cuts on the head and was being treated at one of the hospitals in the state, where he made a video to narrate his ordeal.

Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security, Sunday Odukoya was said to have been to the hospital to visit the victim when the video was recorded.

The Convener, Igangan Development Advocates, Oladiran Oladokun made the video available to the press.

Isaiah said two policemen that were at a checkpoint watched and did nothing as the Fulani herdsmen attacked them.

The victim, whose head was heavily bandaged, debunked initial reports that they were attacked inside the bush.

He stated that they were attacked as they were returning home but he could not tell what happened to the three others.

“The four of us were on the same motorcycle; they just came out and waylaid us. We were not attacked inside the bush; we were attacked at Oju Alagolo. We would have turned back, but we saw some policemen there and that was why we felt there would not be any problem,” he said in the video.

Isaiah explained that he knew the tribe of his attackers because they were the town’s herdsmen.

“One of those Fulani who attacked us with a cutlass came out of his house. I know his house. They did not say we did anything. They ran after us and started inflicting cuts on us as we sped away. Two police vehicles were where we were attacked by the Fulani men, but they pretended as if they did not see what happened. The motorcycle is still where we were attacked,” Isaiah said.
