Odion Ighalo’s Manchester United debut ended in a 2-0 victory over Chelsea on Monday night.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side scored a goal on either side of the half to secure a hard-fought victory at the Stamford Bridge.
A header each from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire ensured the visitors claimed victory that pulled them up to seventh place on the league table with 38 points, two clear of Wolves and Everton.
Ighalo, who came on in the 90th minute, fluffed an opportunity to make it three and score on his debut when he struck a brilliant pass into Willie Caballero’s waiting hands.
The victory keeps Manchester United’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
