The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered 6,000 policemen out of Lagos State.
According to reports, the redeployment which will take place in phases is geared towards revitalising the police in the state.
The police boss was said to be alarmed by the action of some policemen in the state who were said to be running personal businesses at the detriment of police work.
Adamu, in a signal dated May 2, 2019, ordered the immediate redeployment of 1,001 senior officers of the Force from Lagos.
The senior officiers affected included those on the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police and Chief Superintendent of Police.
The next phase of the transfer is expected to affect 5,000 rank-and-file.
In the signal, the police boss ordered the State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Idris, to warn the senior officers and immediately release them to their new commands.
Zamfara, which is currently facing onslaught of attacks from bandits and kidnappers, got more than 50 senior officers from Lagos, the highest by any state command.
Others are Abia, 22; Adamawa State, 43; Akwa Ibom, 11; Anambra State, 9; Bauchi State 31; Benue State, 32; Borno State, 24; Balyesa State, 14; Cross River State, 20; Delta State 10; Ebonyi State, 43; Ekiti State, 42; Enugu State, 29; and the Federal Capital Territory, 5.
Also included are Gombe State, 24; Imo State, 30; Jigawa State, 34; Kebbi State, 47; Kaduna State, 35; Kogi State, 23; Kano State, 32; Katsina State, 41; Kwara State, 20; Nasarawa State, 22; Niger State, 14; Ondo State, 14; Osun State, 26; Oyo State, 41; Plateau State, 32; Rivers State, 37; Sokoto State, 29; Taraba State, 40; Yobe State, 35; and Zamfara State, 53.
Some officers have also been redeployed to Lagos from other states and are presently taking over offices vacated by the departed officers.
