Indian motor company TVS launches first electric Scooter

TVS Motor Company has launched the first-ever all-electric scooter named TVS iQube in Bengaluru, India. Mr. Venu Srinivasan, chairman of the TVS Motor Company stated that the TVS Motor is driven by Customer-Centric Innovation.

The innovation will aid more mobility solutions which will increase the total experience led which will be felt sharply by the India Youth. The TVS iQube is a blend of an advanced electric drivetrain and the gen TVS SmartXonnect platform.

The electric scooter was first showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo as a concert. The electric scooter comes with SmartXonnect connected tech, LED DRL with a LED headlamp and taillight, the scooter is powered by an electric motor that develops about 6 bhp and a peak torque output of 140Nm with a top speed of 78Kmph, its uses the traditional hub motor and the scooter promises a range of 75 km on a single charge and can sprint from 0-40 kmph in 4.2 kWh and 4.5kWh lithium-ion battery, which charges to full in 5 hours.

There is no fast charging available at the moment for the TVS iQube. TVS stated that the battery management and even the electric motor that powers the iQube have been designed and developed in India.
