Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode says Southerners should not be mocking the North over insecurity in the region.

According to him, the South should be helping its Northern neighbours combat growing insecurity or could find itself become a victim too.

Fani-Kayode holds the traditional title of Sadauki Shinkafi in Zamfara State, where 317 schoolgirls were abducted by bandits on Friday.

A week before, 27 students of a Government Science College (GSC), Kagara in Rafi local government area of Niger State were abducted from their school.

However, the abducted Kagara students secured their freedom on Saturday.

Just as the nation was celebrating their return, bandits returned to Kagara, killing four persons and abducting 11 women.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode said it was not right for Southerners to gloat over insecurity up north.

“Southerners that mock the north & laugh at the travails they are going through in the hands of terrorists are ignorant & shortsighted.

“The fire that is burning down your neighbour’s house will end up burning yours as well if you do not help him to put it out. Stop gloating!” the ex-minister.
