The Italian Government on Monday approved a 25 billion euro (or 27.8 billion dollar) aid package aimed at mitigating the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, the package is to support particularly badly hit businesses as well as freelancers and families.
The government wants to pump around 10 billion euros into the employment market, to support businesses in their payment of short-time to employees who have been unable to work during the crisis.
However, the health system was likewise to receive a multibillion-euro boost.
“The financial package was announced just under a week ago. Before that, the final sum had been revised upwards several times.
“Even the new package will not be enough and that further large contributions must be found,” Conte said.
Italy had been hit harder by the Coronaviruses than any other European country, with nearly 2,000 deaths.
