Senator Godswill Akpabio is now officially an APC member after he officially dumbed the opposition party, PDP, and moved to the ruling party.
Akpabio also stated that now the Niger Delta area was going to become an APC space.
The Senator was officially unveiled as an APC member at a reception organised for him at Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, by the APC
While speaking, he threw some shade at PDP’s way, saying the party was a tad to rash in accepting those who abandoned them in their moment of need during the 2015 elections.
He spoke to the large crowd of people who came around to welcome him and said that PDP was finished in the Niger Delta
“This is the end of PDP in the Niger Delta,” he said
“What I have done today is to take Akwa Ibom State and the South-South to the centre…. We will gather together to vote in President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Nigerians are yet to see the best of President Buhari; we must give him a chance to govern this country.
“Do not be afraid of President Buhari if your hands are clean,”he added
He also craved the forgiveness of all those he was said to have hurt and made to leave the PDP explaining that it was for the collective interest.
“For those of you whom I have offended who are already in the APC, please forgive me. For whatever I did, I did it for collective interest.” he said
“Some people said they put a gun over my head. But let me say it here, I have never been charged to court by the EFCC,” said Akpabio in reaction to reports that he was blackmailed into joining the APC.
Party Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole presented the former PDP Senator with a broom, which is the symbol of the APC.
“I accept this broom to sweep away poverty and tyranny in Akwa Ibom State,” Mr Akpabio said.
