First Lady of Kaduna State, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, has jokingly lamented her lack of influence over her husband, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.

She had taken to Twitter in September to appeal to her husband to appoint a female Emir for the Zazzau Emirate.

This was after the demise of the 18th Emir, Dr. Shehu Idris, who died on September 20 after ruling for 45 years.

The First Lady pleaded for a female Emir in the mold of Queen Amina, the warrior-queen said to have lived between 1533 and 1610.

However, her husband today approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as the 19th Emir.

After the announcement of the appointment, the First Lady took to Twitter to bemoan her fate.

“Dear Zazzau princesses, I did my best. In fact, my campaign for a female leader in Zazzau Emirate was the reason why the process dragged on for so long. We live to fight another day,” she joked.
