Veteran Nigerian singer Iyanya Mbuk (better known simply as Iyanya) is firing back at online critics who downplayed his musical achievements. The controversy stems from a social media exchange where a user compared Wizkid’s success to Iyanya’s career, implying a lack of longevity for the latter.

The trouble began with a post by a user identified as @itzbasito, who praised Wizkid’s rise to prominence. Another user,@Xperience_Snr, then reposted the sentiment, adding that some expected Wizkid to “end up like Iyanya and Samklef.” This comparison clearly irked Iyanya, who responded with a heated quote tweet stating, “You will end up like your father.”

In a separate post, Iyanya expressed his frustration with the online environment. “This space is toxic,” he lamented. “Y’all just wake up and undermine a creative’s years of work.”
