The Jigawa State Government has deployed undercover monitors to oversee the distribution of meals under its Ramadan feeding scheme, warning food vendors against diversion and mismanagement.

This was revealed in a statement by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, on Wednesday in Dutse.

According to Sankara, reports have emerged of irregularities in the distribution of the approved quantity and quality of meals at 17 designated feeding centers across the state.

Some of the affected local government areas include Garki, Gumel, Guri, Gwiwa, and Hadejia, as well as Jahun, Malam Madori, Roni, and Dutse.

“As the commissioner overseeing the free feeding project, I warn the vendors concerned to adhere to the set arrangements or risk sanctions,” Sankara stated.

He further emphasized that the government had deployed secret monitors to track the implementation of the feeding program and ensure compliance with transparency and accountability standards.

“We will not tolerate any form of mismanagement. Vendors must be God-fearing and uphold their responsibilities in this sacred period,” he warned.

Sankara urged all stakeholders to fulfill their obligations to ensure the effective execution of the initiative.

It will be recalled that the Jigawa State Government disbursed ₦4.8 billion for the Ramadan feeding scheme to enhance food security and support fasting Muslims during the holy month.
