Jigawa Set To Distribute 7,000 Computers To Students; 13,000 To Follow

The Government of Jigawa State has concluded plans to distribute 7,000 computers to senior secondary school students in the state.

The government said it purchased the computers to encourage information and communication technology training in the state.

According to the State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, about 20,000 computers would be needed to meet the demands of the students but 7,000 has been purchased yet and will be shared on the basis of three students to one computer, pending when the government will purchase the remaining 13,000.

The governor made this known at the inauguration of a Remedial Programme and Pilot Testing of E-Learning Approach in the state capital, Dutse.

While stating that the programme was aimed at keeping up with recent trend in education, Badaru said examination bodies were shifting from pen and paper examination to computer-based tests (CBT).

Also, the governor declared that his administration had so far expended N500 million on registering at least 118,000 candidates for various examinations in 2015.

He equally said that the state government was putting modalities in place to ensure that schools at every stage of learning (primary to tertiary) embrace electronic learning in the state. (NAN).
