Following the recent impeachment and subsequent reelection of a new Speaker by the Kogi State House of Assembly, the House of Representatives on Thursday has shown indications that it might throw weight into the matter.

Investigations revealed that the major caucuses in the House of Representatives initiated discussion on how best to contain the brewing crisis in the Kogi state Assembly.

The House of Representatives in its bid to restore peace to the Kogi state house of Assembly may have to invoke constitutional provision for the National Assembly to take over the State House of Assembly.

Recall that on Monday, five of the 20 member State House of Assembly had announced the impeachment of Momoh Jimoh Lawal, the speaker, Deputy speaker, Mr Alih Ajuh and Majority Leader, Mr. Kolawole Matthew.

Following their impeachment, Jimoh Lawal and 14 other colleagues filed a petition submitted to the Majority leader of the House in Abuja, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila protesting the illegality of the impeachment.

The submitted petition is expected to be laid before the House in Abuja on Tuesday, next week.
