A former staff of presumptive Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden has filed an official sexual assault complaint against him.
The lady, who worked with Biden as a member of his Senate staff back in 1993, filed the complaint with the Washington Metropolitan Police Department.
According to Business Insider, the lady filed the complaint on Thursday with the department’s sexual assault unit.
She then followed it up with a tweet on Friday explaining that although the case is “outside the criminal statutes of limitations but there is justice in just being heard in a dignified way”.
Reade said she had tried to tell the story to an extent back in 1993 when it happened but could not do so because she was too afraid.
In yet another tweet, she wrote, “I was in my 20s. I trusted my boss, Joe Biden. I want the generation behind me to feel the empowerment to lift their voice and stand in truth no matter how powerful the man or forces that enable him.”
Daily Mail reported that a police department spokesperson could not provide a copy of the complaint and Biden’s campaign team did not respond to requests for comments.
Reade had first made allegations of sexual assault against the former US Vice President on March 25.
She claimed she was delivering a gym bag to the then Delaware senator when she became alone with him.
“His hands were on me and underneath my clothes. He went down my skirt and then up inside it and he penetrated me with his fingers. He was kissing me at the same time,” she claimed in a podcast.
But Biden’s campaign team dismissed the claims at the time, describing the accusations as “false”.
