Journalist Who Critised Lai Mohammed Remanded in Prison

Nigerians are celebrating Democracy day less one freelance journalist who has been remanded in Prison for criticizing Minister for information and culture Lai Mohammed.

Popular Kwara freelance broadcaster, Rotimi Jolayemi also known as Oba Akewi was ordered to be remanded in Prison custody by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Oba Akewi was arraigned on a six count charge including sharing an audio file to cause annoyance, Ill Will, Hatred and insults towards Lai Mohammed.

The journalist was arraigned after the prosecuting counsel, Joseph Offor ammended the charges to include an extra list of witnesses against the accused.

Jolayemi complained of Ill Health in detention while he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

After taking the plea, the judge ordered the journalist to be remanded in the custody of the Nigeria Police, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department headquarters in Abuja pending his bail application hearing.

The case was thereafter adjourned till June 16.
