Jungle Justice: Suspected Thief Tied to a Tree and Beaten to a Pulp By Angry Mob in Edo state

Benin City, the capital of Edo state, has frequently been terrorized by several gangs of armed robbers most of whom get away scot free, such luck however ran out for one member of a robbery gang who was caught and subsequently beaten to a pulp by an angry mob.

The suspected criminal was caught during a robbery attack, stripped naked, tied to a tree and beaten mercilessly.

The irate mob were already set out to burn him if not for the timely intervention of the police who managed to whisk him away to the police station.

Lately, there have been many cases of jungle justice being carried out with people taking the laws into their hands and neglecting the rule of law.

According to Mr Okeke Onyebuchi, “jungle justice is no justice at all, but a travesty of justice.”
