Some thugs armed with cutlasses, planks and other dangerous weapons have attacked unarmed protesters demanding an end to police brutality in Abuja.
The Herald gathered that the attack occurred around Berger junction, an hour after protesters converged on the area.
The thugs were said to have chased protesters away and damaged vehicles parked on the street.
At least five cars were said to have been damaged and a number of the peaceful protesters injured.
After initially fleeing, the protesters reportedly regrouped and gave the thugs a hot chase.
In the process, one of the thugs was apprehended and handed over to a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) patrol team stationed there.
