Following the mass defection from APC to PDP by 15 members of reps earlier today, that number has now climbed to 37.

The 37 lawmakers from the house of Representatives have renounced their APC membership and have moved to other parties causing a massive blow to the ruling party.

32 went on to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Of the five left, four joined forces with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The last lawmaker announced his renunciation of PDP but did not state which party he would be decamping to.

The former APC reps announced their defection on Tuesday during the plenary session, 36 lawmakers of the 37 stated dissatisfaction with the division experienced at all levels of the APC as the reason for their defection.

Among of the said defectors were: Sani Rano, Barry Mpigi, Ali Madaki, Dickson Tackighir, Hassan Saleh, Danburam Nuhu, Mark Gbilah, Razak Atunwa, Ahmed Bichi, Abdulsamad Dasuki and Zakari Mohammed.

While it has widely been reported that Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara might be defecting, his name was not among the defectors, neither was that of his deputy, Yusuff Lasun.

After the first 36 lawmakers announced their decision, the chairman of the House of Representatives Rules and Business, Orker Jev, announced he was also resigning from the APC.

While pointing at the division in APC as the reason for his leaving, he didn’t state what party he was going to.
