The Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Tribunal has ordered a re-run of the governorship election in 18 out of the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.
While delivering its verdict on Wednesday, the Tribunal ruled that it found grounds of substantial incompliance with the electoral act in polls conducted in the 18 LGAs and held that there were discrepancies during the April 11 gubernatorial polls in the state.
The tribunal subsequently ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the re-run in the 18 affected LGAs .
