JUST IN: Ambode Assists 50 Stranded Nigerians in Russia to Return Home
Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has decided to assist fifty stranded Nigerians who travelled to Russia for the 2018 FIFA world cup tournament to return back to the country. It was said that these distressed Nigerians before embarking on the trip paid their agents the sum of one million naira in order to get a job in Russia but were all disappointed.
According to reports from Vanguard, a number of them claimed they used the official fan identity to secure their visas with the hope of getting a job or playing football.
Some also claimed they only came to watch the world cup matches but became stranded as their travel agent swindled them.
An online influencer identified as Nnamdi Odimegwu mentioned that he was in the company of the executive governor when the rescue came to those Nigerians.
Nnamdi who made the post on his Instagram handle said:’’ I had an emergency appointment at Moscow today but was privileged to run into Lagos state governor.
‘’We exchanged pleasantries and had a little chat as I was waiting. After that, we bade each other farewell as well and then, he left.
‘’In a couple of minutes, I saw a crowd of fifty Nigerians with Ambode who seem to have been stranded in Russia for over ten days.
‘’Right now as I report this, about twenty of these people are already on their way to Nigeria, while the remaining will be boarded this evening.

‘’Governor also gave them some money to eat as they await their flight. I am just saying this to thank His Excellency, Governor Ambode for this beautiful gesture; he has demonstrated that not all politicians are heartless.
‘’I want to admonish you reading this to learn from this and always try to help others who are in distress. I am not campaigning for the governor; I am only painting him in good light’’. He said.
