Following the dethronement of Muhammad Sanusi II, Kano State Government has announced Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Kano.

Bayero, the son of late Emir Ado Bayero, replaces Muhammad Sanusi 11, who was dethroned and banished to Nasarawa. Abba Anwar, chief press secretary to Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, disclosed this in a statement.

Ado Bayero was the emir of Bichi, one of the emirates that Ganduje created after a falling  out with Sanusi.

Sanusi was earlier dethroned by the state government following months of disagreement with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. His dethronement was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji, during the State Executive Council meeting which held at the Government House in Kano.

According to Alhaji, the decision to remove the traditional ruler was as a result of his alleged consistent refusal to abide by instructions given to him by the state government.

Sanusi’s removal comes one week after the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission had summoned the Emir.

According to reports, Sanusi has been arrested and exiled to Nasarawa by security operatives.
