JUST IN: DSS Releases Mailafia After 3-Hour Grilling

Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS).

He was said to have been grilled for nearly three hours before his eventual release.

The Jos, Plateau State office of the secret police had invited the economist for the third time in barely two months following some claims he made on a radio station, including that a sitting northern governor was the Commander of Boko Haram.

Mailafia, who contested for the presidency in 2019, reportedly presented himself around 11am and was released around 2:50am.

The former Directing Staff of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State told journalists after his release that the agency display high professionalism in attending to him.

“What l said has nothing to with politics; l only spoke as a free citizen of this country and as such, l am the voice of the thousands of the voiceless of the citizens of this country.

“Muslims and Christian youths have taken and accepted me as their voice, so, l am the voice of the holy martyrs, so if l perish, l perish. God help Nigeria,” Mailafia stated.
