Just In: Federal government, ASUU meet over strike, IPPIS

The federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday, March 12, held a meeting at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.

The government said the purpose of the meeting is to proffer solutions to the strike action which the university lecturers started on Monday.

Recall that the ASUU has declared a two-week warning strike in protest against non-payment of the salaries of lecturers who have not been enrolled on the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.

The meeting has in attendance the Accountant General of the Federation, Idris Ahmed; the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; the Minister of Education (State), Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and the Finance Minister, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.
