The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Joseph Egbunike, who hails from Onitsha, Anambra state, reportedly slumped and died in his Abuja office in the late hours of yesterday, 8th March 2022.
Many Nigerians have taken to their social media accounts to demand that Joseph Egbunike’s sudden death be thoroughly investigated. This speculation arises from the fact that the late DIG led the Special Investigation Panel organized by Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, to investigate the suspended head of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, over money laundering allegations.
