Just In: Tension in Jos as security operatives kill man

The killing of one Babangida Saudi Adam in Narkuta community by security operatives has caused a high tension in Jos north local government area of Plateau state.

The Herald gathered that the incident occurred when a combined security operatives stormed the community to demolish houses on a disputed land.

The spokesperson of the Plateau state police command, Ubah Gabriel, confirmed that one person was killed during an operation in the area but couldn’t give the details of the incident.

A member representing Jos North-North in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan, also confirmed the incident.

Hassan explained that the development occurred when security operatives arrived the area and started demolishing people’s property even when the matter was still in court.

It was learnt that it took the efforts of the lawmaker to calm angry youths from escalating of the situation.

Earlier, The Herald gathered that operatives of the Anambra police command killed three armed robbery suspects after a gun duel at Federal Housing Estate Fegge, Onitsha.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, on Thursday confirmed the incident in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka.

Mohammed, who said the identities of the three male suspects were yet to be ascertained, noted that the police arrested two other suspects alive.

The statement read: “Today, Feb. 13, 2020 at about 2:02pm, the command Puff-Adder operatives in conjunction with patrol team attached to Fegge Division responded to a distress call at Federal Housing Estates Fegge, Onitsha.

“A five-man robbery gang, who allegedly attacked one male, surname yet unknown of Chisco Park Upper Iweka in Onitsha and robbed him of unspecified amount of money at gunpoint were rounded up on Thursday.
