Kaduna man divorces wife twice, tears divorce papers after

A retired civil servant, Kabir Matazu, on Tuesday told a Sharia Court II siting in Magajin Gari Kaduna State that he tore the two divorce papers he gave to his estranged wife after the problem between them was settled.

Testifying in court, Matazu said: ”when I divorced my wife the first time, I documented it and later destroyed it when we settled the problem between us.

“Later on, on April 4, 2018 I divorced her again.  Again the matter was settled and she came back to my house.

”On April 25, I divorced her again.

“I divorced her twice on different occasions.”

The petitioner, Amina Abubakar, on May 15 dragged the defendant to the court, seeking divorce confirmation.

”I have witnesses who can testify that he divorced me”, Abubakar said.

Abubakar, presented the two divorce documents to the court and the defendant accepted it acknowledging that he wrote it himself.

The judge, Musa Sa’ad-Goma, adjourned the case until June 11 for ruling.

”The court is going to use the Maliki Islamic school of thought to make a final ruling in this case”, Sa’ad-Goma said.(NAN)
