Kano: 72 Rustlers Nabbed, 818 Cattle Recovered

The Police in Kano State have arrested 72 rustlers and recovered 818 cattle from them at the Falgore forest in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state, the News Agency of Nigeria.

The suspects were paraded before journalists in Kwanar Dawaki in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, by the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Katsina on Sunday.

Keatsina said the police killed three other suspects, in the course of the operation, who engaged them in a gunfight. One of them was a Senegalese national who was said to have led a raid on the village of Gidan Kare, in Sumaila LGA of the state.

‘’Ndaiye was gunned down when he engaged our men in a gun battle who were on special duty at Falgore forest by Gazobi village.

‘’He later gave up while receiving treatment at the hospital. A revolver pistol and 224 rustled cattle were recovered from him while four other members of his gang were arrested,’ Katsina stated.

Also at the parade were the Governor of Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, and Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.

In his response, the Governor expressed the state’s appreciation of the efforts put in by the police to arrest the culprits and said that the state will set up a committee to ensure the cattle are returned to their rightful owners.

The Emir of Kano appealed to the judiciary to ensure the proper prosecution of the culprits.
