The Kano State Ministry of Health confirmed the new tally released by NCDC for the state in a tweet.

“As at 11:25 pm 1st May 2020, 92 new cases of COVID-19 cases confirmed. Total confirmed cases in Kano State are now 311.

“3 additional COVID-19 deaths were recorded. Total COVID-19 deaths are now 8,” the tweet read.

Obaze stated that if the increase of the pandemic in Kano is not handle properly and urgently, the state may become the epicenter of the virus.

He said:

“NCDC and FGN need to shift focus urgently to Kano, which possibly may become Nigeria’s next coronavirus ground zero and investigate the spate of unexplained deaths.

“I had earlier warned that not responding robustly now, will in the longer term, cost Nigeria more financially, materially, morally and certainly, in terms of human casualties.”

“When COVID-19 hits Nigeria fully, the challenge and national mobilization needed to respond adequately will require the replication of another civil war situation capacity,” warning that, “We are gradually gravitating to that moment of shock.”
