In order to curtail the killing of innocent citizens in the state by suspected terrorists, the Kano State government yesterday banned commercial motorcyclists, otherwise known as Okada in the ancient commercial city.

This new law was formally announced by the BBC Hausa Service.

Noteworthy is the fact that the Kano State government had earlier issued a statement banning the commercial motorcycle riders from carrying more than a passenger on their motorcycles which is expected to take effect from tomorrow, Thursday.

In recent times, the state has faced serious security challenges with the killing of some police officers and the recent attack on the Emir of Kano which resulted in the death of five persons.

According to BBC, there are more than two million commercial motorcycles operating on a daily basis in Kano been the most populated state in the North.
