Kano Hisbah Board Arrest 31 Teenage Girls for ‘Immoral Acts’

The Kano State Hisbah Board said it arrested 31 young girls for alleged involvement in immoral acts.

Sani Tanko, the Public Relations Officer of the board, told Newsmen today  Friday that the suspects were apprehended in a hotel during a special operation at Sabon Gari area in Kano metropolis.

All the 31 arrested suspects were females and mostly teenagers.

“Our men were able to arrest these girls at Sabon Gari area in Kano at about 3 p.m. on Monday.

“We screened them and immediately released those who were first-time offenders on bail while those who are habitual offenders were referred to the legal department for further legal action,” he said.

He added that those whose parents refused to claim them would be taken to court for proper prosecution.

“We always encourage good deeds and discourage bad ones,” Mr. Tanko said.

He advised parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children to enable them to become useful members of the society and contribute to the development of the country.
