Kano police bust robbery syndicate, arrest three suspects

The Police in Kano have, on Thursday, apprehended a three-man robbery gang suspected to be behind various robberies in the state.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police, Wakili Mohammed, during a media briefing in Kano.

According to Mohammed, “A syndicate of suspected armed robbers that is constantly striking and dispossessing residents of Sheka, Zoo Road, Tudun Maliki, Tukuntawa and Maidile Quarter has been smashed.

“Members of the gang, who were arrested, were Auwalu Adamu, Muhammed Suleman and Abdullahi Iliyasu, all of the Sheka Quarter, and an English-made pistol was recovered from them.”

In another development, another suspect, Abubakar Ahmed, of Mile 9, Kano, has been arrested for being part of a car-snatching syndicate.

The suspect was said to work alongside others now at large to snatch cars from their owners on the highway, which are then driven to their hideout, disassembled and sold as spare parts to unsuspecting members of the public.

The CP said, “Vehicles recovered from their hideout were a Toyota Hiace commercial bus, one Golf wagon and a Hummer.

“Similarly, another set of suspected car thieves, who snatched a Toyota Hilux, were also arrested. The arrested suspects are Ibrahim Bashir and Yakuza Bilyaminu of the Ladanai Quarter, Kano. They were arrested with the vehicle in question. Investigations are ongoing.”
