Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has inaugurated the Kano State Shura Council, a 46-member advisory panel designed to provide strategic guidance on socio-economic and religious issues.
According to a statement released on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the council is chaired by Professor Shehu Galadanci, with Professor Muhammad Zahraddeen as Vice Chairman. Gani Sagagi, the council’s secretary, will oversee its operations for effective coordination.
The council features a diverse array of members, including distinguished Islamic scholars, academics, and community leaders such as Sheikh Abdulwahhab Abdallah, Sheikh Karibullah Kabara, Dr. Bashir Umar, and Sheikh Tijjani Kalarawi. Others include Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, Professor Salisu Shehu, Dr. Muhammad Borodo, and Khalifa Hassan Kafinga.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the council’s critical role in fostering peace, unity, and development across Kano State. “This initiative reflects our commitment to inclusive governance and respect for Kano’s cultural and religious institutions,” the governor said.
The Shura Council aims to enhance policymaking through community engagement, serving as the apex body for socio-religious matters. Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in the expertise and integrity of the appointees, congratulating them on their selection.
