The Kano State Government has approved N35 million for the conduct of National Common Entrance Examination by 2,500 students from 10 local governments councils in the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state’s Executive Council meeting in Kano on Thursday.
Garba said the Council had also approved N95 million for the conduct of the Transitional Examination of 243,000 pupils from 44 local governments councils
which would enable them to qualify into Junior Secondary Schools.
He added that “the Council also approved N1 billion for the immediate payment of compensation for property affected by the construction of NNPC mega stations in three senatorial districts of the state.
“The Council also agreed to release over N6 million for the continuation of feeding of 500 pupils in 10 Tsangaya and Almajiri model schools in 10 local government areas of the state.”
The commissioner said that the state government had reconstituted inter ministerial committee on market restructuring under the chairmanship of the state commissioner for information, while commissioners of local government, works, planning and commerce were members.
He emphasised the government’s determination to develop infrastructure in the state as part of initiatives to improve the welfare of the people. (NAN)
