Kenneth Okonkwo Predicts APC’s “Final Downfall” as ADC Coalition Gathers Momentum Ahead of 2027

Veteran Nollywood actor and lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will face its “final downfall” in the 2027 general elections, asserting that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its emerging coalition represent a new political dawn for Nigeria.
Speaking at a recent coalition strategy meeting, Okonkwo said the new alliance of opposition forces is driven not by a thirst for power, but by a commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians.

“This party is not about power. This party is about the welfare of Nigerians,” he stated. “If there is no new arrangement that I’m sure will take care of the welfare of Nigerians, I will stay in my house and pray.”
Describing the ADC as a “party of light,” Okonkwo positioned the coalition as a rescue mission from what he labeled the “darkness” of APC’s governance. “When you shine light in darkness, darkness disappears. APC will not understand what hits them,” he said.
Citing Article 3 of the ADC Constitution, Okonkwo noted that the party’s mission aligns with the coalition’s broader goal of building a peaceful, prosperous Nigeria where all citizens can thrive. He emphasized the coalition’s commitment to the nation’s well-being, not just political positioning.
Addressing skepticism about the coalition’s makeup—which includes some former APC and PDP members—Okonkwo said political experience, even from past failures, could be a valuable teacher. “Your best teacher is your last mistake,” he said. “All the people that have been in power in Nigeria and did not do what they ought to do at that time are reaping it.”
On potential collaboration with Labour Party’s Peter Obi or any other presidential hopeful from within the coalition, Okonkwo said he was open to supporting any candidate that emerges through the coalition process, stressing unity over party identity. “This is now the time of the coalition, not individual parties,” he declared.
He also dismissed concerns over APC infiltration into the ADC, insisting that the party has taken necessary precautions. “We will search out any infiltrator and give him the treatment that is given to spies,” he warned.
Okonkwo concluded by predicting the collapse of APC’s political dominance, pointing to recent internal crises within the ruling party. “Before long, APC people will be in hiding because the shame that will come upon them—they will not even be able to talk to Nigerians again.”
The ADC-led coalition is intensifying its efforts to unify opposition parties ahead of 2027, positioning itself as a viable alternative for Nigerians dissatisfied with the APC’s handling of the economy, insecurity, and governance.
