Kevin Hart has suffered a major back injury after he and two others were involved in a car accident in Calabasas, California early Sunday.

Philadelphia comic who appeared in many films during the 2000s and produced multi-platinum recordings for Comedy was a passenger in one of his classic cars, a blue Plymouth Barracuda when the driver lost control and swerved off the Mulholland Highway in Malibu Hills, crashing through a wooden fence and plunging down a gully around 1 am.

Reports have it that the driver of the car Jared Black and a female passenger were found “pinned in their seats” under the crushed roof, with the fire department forced to saw off the top of the car to free them.

Hart and the driver sustained “major back injuries” and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, the report states.

Patrol officers determined that Black was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. The third occupant did not suffer any substantial injuries.

According to witnesses, Hart was the first person out of the wrecked vehicle, and was picked up by a member of his security team and taken home “to get medical attention”.

He was eventually treated at a hospital.

Earlier on Saturday, the Central Intelligence star had shared a video on Instagram of himself out driving the vintage car, which he bought for himself just a few months ago as a 40th birthday present.
