One of the biggest twists, so far , in the summer transfer window sees AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng make a move to German side Schalke for a fee of 12 million euros (£ 10.2m). Though the deal runs for three years, it carries an option for a fourth season.

This move marks a return to the Bundesliga for the 26-year- old German-born Ghanian international who started his career in the Bundesliga with Herta Berlin, his hometown team, in 2005.

The Italian giants are already working on strengthening their team with the signing of 29 year old Juventus striker Alessandro Matriin a deal reportedly worth 11 million euros and are linked with CSKA player Keisuke Honda. They are also rumoured to be interested in Real Madrid playmaker Kaka who is hell-bent on making an exit from the Bernebeu before the end of the  current transfer window.

Boateng scored twice in the Italian team’s 3-0 victory against PSV Eindoven in their Champions League play-off second leg on Wednesday that took them through to the group stage 4 – 1 on aggregate. The player will be eligible to play for Schalke in the Champion’s league come September.
