Kidnapper confesses to making N150 million from just two operations

Abubakar Umar, who is currently in police custody over kidnapping crimes has publicly confessed to realizing over 200 million in six months after he got involved in the criminal act. As part of his confessional statement, he claimed that in just two of his operations with other members of the group, he made a total of N150 million.

Umar further revealed that his accomplices were constantly going after expatriates who could pay ransoms in huge sums.

While narrating their practices to reports, Umar stated, “

“My job is kidnapping and I operate mainly in Niger and Kebbi states. I operated with my masters who operate in Sokoto. During one of the operations, we collected N100m  in ransom. We did another operation in Oyo and we realized N50m.

“For the one in Niger, I kidnapped and collected N4m. After that, I was contacted by an informant who gave me another job and I realized N4m. I got another job in Kebbi where we collected N1m. Another victim we kidnapped didn’t have much money but he was able to pay N500,000 before he was released.”
