Kidnappers free Katsina governor’s mother-in-law

Hajiya Maistiyari, the mother-in-law of Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has regained her freedom a week after some unidentified persons abducted her from her home.

The Katsina State Police Command’s spokesman,  SP Gambo Isah, disclosed in a Friday statement that the 80-year-old was released on Thursday.

It remains unclear if a ransom was paid to secure her release.

Hajiya Maistiyari is the mother of Binta Masari, one of the governor’s three wives.

The statement read in part, “I am very happy to inform you that the the mother in- law of His Excellency, Aminu Masari, has been released by her abductors yesterday 14/03/2019 by 16:00hrs.

“She is hale and hearty. She has already been reunited with her family after necessary medical check-ups.”

The Herald recalls that the octogenarian was abducted from her home at No 13, Dandume Crescent, Sabon Gari area of Katsina State last Friday.
