Kidnappers kill Pastor’s wife after collecting N250,000 Ransom

Esther Katung, a Pastor’s wife who was kidnapped on the 14th of September has been butchered to death, even after N250,000 ransom was paid.

Esther and other family members were kidnapped in her home by Bandits around 11:30pm, at Bagoma, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna on 14th September, 2019.

Esther’s husband,Ishaku Katung, who is an ECWA Pastor escaped the abduction sustaining swvere injuries. Esther who was not so fortunate, was abducted by the Kidnappers that fateful night.

A family source disclosed that the deceased and two other victims were able to escape from captivity but Esther was not as lucky as her Abductors caught her while trying to escape. They broke her leg and smashed her head which eventually caused her death.

The Kidnappers dumped her corpse in a nearby bush which was later discovered days after her ransom was already paid.

The Kidnappers did not give her family members the impression they had murdered her.

According to a source, the Kidnappers made a demand of N5 million for Esther’s release but after negotiations, both parties agreed on the ransom payment of N250,000.

The source furthermore explained that the those who delivered the ransom had their mobile devices snatched and their motorcycles burnt after making payment.

Joseph Hayab, Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna state, has confirmed the incident saying “human life means nothing in Nigeria”

Hayab said ” What really happened is that she wanted to escape with two others. Tbey killed her and dumped her corpse in the bush”

“After they killed her, they were still demanding for the ransom without telling us that they had killed her and the ransom was delivered to them”.

“They burnt the motorcycle of those who went to deliver the ransom and collected their mobile phones”

The Kaduna state Police Command is yet to make an official statementvas all efforts to reach Yakubu Sabo, the Spokesman of the command, proved abortive.
