#KogiDecides: APC Chieftain Wants Wada Re-elected As Poll Records Smooth Accreditation

An APC gubernatorial aspirant, Senator Alex Kadiri has expressed support for the second term ambition of Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State.

Chief Kadiri who lost the APC ticket to Prince Abubakar Audu, the party’s flag bearer in today’s election, spoke to journalists at Odu Ogboyaga ward 001 in Dekina Local Government and said Wada is the best among all the gubernatorial candidates.

The non serving senator expressed his happiness over the peaceful nature of the polls so far, though he admitted that he is yet to get reports from other polling units.

In the same vein, a second class traditional ruler, Chief Salifu said from the reports he has received so far, the election is going on peacefully.

“I have been talking to my people to cast their votes and go back. This is what I have been telling them,” said Chief Salifu.

Meanwhile, accreditation of voters in the Kogi State governorship election commenced at 8am in virtually all the polling units across the state.

This followed the arrival of electoral officials and materials as early as 7am.

According to reports, some of the polling units across the state report that eligible voters were seen on queues ahead of the commencement of the accreditation process.

At Karaworo, Maigari palace, Augwan Tiv, Kabbawa and the New Layout in Lokoja, the state capital, NAN reports that the officials and election materials arrived well ahead of time.

Abiodun Suleiman, an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission at polling unit 16 located in Lokoja, told NAN that he and other officials arrived the polling centres with the election materials at about 6:30am.

Suleiman said that the accreditation of 1,686 voters that would vote at the polling units began exactly at 8am, adding that the card reading machines were working perfectly.

In a similar vein, chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring smooth accreditation of voters in the Kogi Governorship election.

Mr James Faleke, the APC governorship running mate shortly after being accredited at his Oja Ode polling unit in Ekinrin-Adde ward of Ijumu Local Government Area, that the arrangement by INEC was impressive.

He commended INEC and security agencies for the measures put in place at making sure that the processes were peaceful.

Faleke also thanked the people of Ekinrin Adde and the entire Okun land for coming out en-masse for the accreditation.

“Victory belongs to God. All power belongs to God and I am optimistic that victory was sure.’’
