Sometimes men are very comfortable dating the same woman for several years but shy away when it comes to commitment. So, the pertinent question is how do you know if your man is willing to give you the ring or will simply be a procrastinator. Yesterday headlines reported a lady who poured hot oil on on her ex-boyfriend because he refused to marry her after dating for several years. Read on to watch out for the signs if he has no plans to marry you and save the hot oil for frying fish.
1. He tries to avoid discussions related to commitment
Does your boyfriend say “when the time is right” when you ask him about his plans to propose to you? If you haven’t paid attention to it, you must because this is a very important line to remember. If your boyfriend uses this line whenever you broach the subject of marriage, then you can be sure that he is simply trying to string you along and put you off. However, if he has some concrete objective to accomplish and frankly discusses it with you, the guy might not be a player. Otherwise, there are all chances that he is one.
2. He makes you realize the importance of friendship
If your boyfriend has suddenly started discussing on what great friends the two of you are most of the time, something isn’t really right. He may begin to avoid conversations on commitment and marriage and instead talk about how beautiful friendship can be. Watch out for these guys.
3. He gets uncomfortable when you talk of kids
If a guy is serious about marriage with you, he is most likely to also want kids. So, a casual conversation about kids should not make him uncomfortable. If he is against the idea, chances are he is never going to pop the question.
4. He rejects the concept of marriage
If a guy is not interested in marriage, he may shun the very concept and also brand married people stupid. This is a very obvious hint that marriage is never on his list of priority.
5. He sends you on a guilt trip
Does he conveniently shift blames on you for everything? This may be a defense tactic he is pulling off to put away the topic of marriage and demonstrating to you in his own weak way why things may not work if there is a commitment.
6. He doesn’t give you keys to his apartment
Do you have a key to his apartment or home? If you do not have a key to his home despite the several years you’ve been dating, then something is most certainly wrong.
7. He doesn’t introduce you to his friends
Does he explicitly show the lack of interest in taking you along to see his male friends? While it cannot happen all the time, there must be a reasonable number of times he is willing and excited to take you with him. If he is putting that off, then it might mean that you aren’t going to be around for too long.
8. He suggests a trial period
This is a sure shot sign that he isn’t ready to pop the question. If the man wants to make you his woman, he doesn’t need a trial period. So stop wasting time on him anymore.
9. You have begun pleading/begging before him
You may have indirectly hinted or even directly spoken about marriage earlier with him. But of late, has that tone changed to pleading or begging? The moment you recognize this, it is time to move on. Such men are just not worth your time, love or even compassion. He is only likely to keep you that way and even if you end up in marriage, your stature may reduce to pleading every time.
Pinning your hopes on the wrong guy does not just waste your time and efforts but gives you an ache that is often difficult to heal. So, before getting your hopes higher, investigate judiciously.
