The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport says the Lafia Airport on completion will generate employment and enhance socio-economic activities of the people of the state.
The Chairman of the committee, Mr Abdulaziz Danladi, said this when the committee inspected the ongoing construction of the airport in Lafia on Thursday.
He said the visit was part of the House constitutional responsibilities of ensuring that the right thing was done for the benefit of the people.
According to him, “as members of the works committee of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, we are here to have an on the spot assessment of this ongoing airport project.
“The construction of the airport by the state government will also fight unemployment and boost the economic and social status of the people of the state.
“It will also promote economic and social status of not only the people of Lafia but the entire state,” he said.
The members of the committee, however, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done so far.
Alhaji Mu’azu Gosho, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, and the contractors led members of the committee to the project site during the inspection.
